1. What is Linkrealms?

Linkrealms is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), an online game catering to adults (both avid gamers, or those entirely new to gaming).

2. In what time/theme does the game take place?

While the game has a distinctly medieval/fantasy feel, it is not entirely so. The majority of the Linkrealms universe is created by the players themselves. To better facilitate individual personalities the graphics set is a little more varied than other strictly medieval-themed games, though it does and always will lean in that direction.

3. Is the game "hack & slash" or something more?

Linkrealms is a careful mix of some popular features typical of social-based games (ie custom content), with actual RPG game-play. Make no mistake about it, Linkrealms IS an actual game, not just a "glorified chat room" with mini-games that is seen all too often.

While the game has plenty to offer to those who enjoy "hack & slash" adventure & Player vs. Player combat, it also offers so much more.

For those who enjoy crafting, item collecting, non-combat questing, or just socializing, there is something for everyone!

4. What is a MMORPG?

MMORPG stands for massively multiplayer online role-playing game. MMORPGs allow thousands of players to adventure and socialize together in a large persistent world.

5. What does the term "persistent world" mean?

A persistent world is a virtual living environment that continues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether your are logged in or not.

6. What exactly is a "Realm", why the name "Linkrealms"?

Using the Realm Editor each player can create & customize a portion of land in this world called a realm. Your realm can include a home for you to store & display your belongings, a landscape, or both. The Realm Editor comes with a very large library of graphics, covering multiple themes & styles to create a truly unique creation of your own.

Your realm will be visible & available to other players whether you are logged in or not, 24 hours a day. Players & creatures will wander through your realm, and your crops will continue to grow. The Linkrealms universe consists of these realms, all linked together to create a coherent world of the community's own creation.

7. What are the System Requirements?

• Windows-based PC
• DirectX Version 8 or higher
• 80 megabytes of free ram
• 100 megabytes of HD space
• 32 mb or greater Video Card

While a broadband Internet connection is always helpful, we have many players who use a dial-up connection with no problems.

8. What makes Linkrealms different from other online games?

There are many possible answers to this question, but here are some of the most obvious:

• The nature of the Linkrealms universe. With the exception of certain adventure areas, the entire landscape is created & owned by the players themselves. Players have access to a very large database of graphics to build a unique realm to match their personality. Your realm serves as your home, a place where you can store & display your belongings, host get-together's with friends, practice gardening, a safe retreat from the day's adventures, you name it. The way in which realms are linked assures other players will wander through your realm out of necessity in many cases to get from point A to point B, which means what you create will be regularly seen & experienced by other players.



• Linkrealms is approachable to those who aren't avid gamers. Every effort has been made to include a user-interface that is non-intimidating and easy to learn. Anyone, regardless of game experience, can be actively playing & enjoying the game just minutes after logging in for the first time. While the game does use 3D engine, it has a fixed point of view (isometric) to better keep track of your environment without getting lost.



• Non class-based, open-ended character skill system. Unlike some other RPG's, you won't be required to choose a character class in the beginning thereby committing yourself to a style of game-play you might end up not enjoying. You can choose during the course of game-play which skills you wish to develop, and if you change your mind you can work on different skills at any time.



• Linkrealms is a game created by adults, for adults. To ensure as much creative freedom as possible, for both us the developers, and you the player as your create your own realm, the game is available only to adults. Linkrealms provides a fun, safe virtual environment for people to experiment & express themselves in ways that may not be available in normal life. During the Beta process we are excited to expand upon this concept in response to player feedback.



• HIGHLY customizable player appearance & personality. Linkrealms has several highly customizable player races, and many more to come in the future. The game has one of the largest collections of wearable items available in a MMO, with more being added all the time. There are many ways to ensure your character displays your own preference & personality. Unless you are actually trying to do so, it is highly unlikely that 2 players will ever look identical.

9. Will there be a fee to play?

Linkrealms will be free to download, and free to play. After Beta there will be options to subscribe for membership to take advantage of extra features. There will also be in-game virtual items available for purchase. Prices & membership rates are yet to be determined.

10. When is the Beta?

Linkrealms will be entering Beta testing in Q4 2007. Account creation codes will still be necessary for some time so that we can throttle & monitor the load on our servers.

We invite everyone who is interested in participating to send us an email (be sure to include the words "Beta Test" in the subject line of your email). Please remember that Linkrealms is a game for adults 18 & older only, not just for Beta but after live release as well. If you are selected to participate you will be sent an email with your account creation code when Beta begins (or perhaps even sooner).

11. Why must I be 18 years of age or older to play?

The game is a living virtual world populated by adult players and therefore the game-play experience itself is variable & unpredictable. Adult language, themes, and humor in the game are possible, and we are reluctant to censor our players as long as there is a basic respect for others in the community.
